With the summer holidays lurking, we’re all looking to book ourselves a vacation (if you haven’t already!). Booking your vacation comes with a few decisions you have to make. Where to go, how long for, how you’re going to travel and where you’re going to stay.

I am wondering whether people are better off in a hotel/inn, or a holiday villa. In this article, I’m going to look at the pros and cons of each and let you make up your own mind.

Hotels

Hotels and inns are convenient and basic. So why do people prefer hotels?

  • They provide everything you need at affordable prices.
  • Beds and rooms are cleaned daily by on site staff.
  • You can order room service.
  • Amenities like bars, gyms and business rooms are often on site.
  • There is normally a restaurant that serves food throughout the day.
  • They are generally less expensive than hiring out a villa somewhere.

Why don’t people like hotels?

  • You’re not alone; there may be other guests at the hotel. Even though your room is your own, it may feel like there’s no privacy.
  • Even though it’s normally cheaper than hiring a villa, ordering room service and using the amenities at the hotel can be expensive.

If you would rather check into a hotel but aren’t quite sure what to go for, why not try a Holiday Inn Express? Sites like these usually offer a deal package, so you’re getting the best for your money.

Holiday Villas

Villas are luxurious and relaxing. Here’s why people prefer villas.

  • Villas are kitted out with many features like en-suite bathrooms, walk in showers, jacuzzis and swimming pools.
  • They’re typically decorated to suit the surroundings. For example, a villa near a beach would be tiled and have lighter walls and furniture. A villa in the countryside, however, would more likely be decorated to feel cozier.
  • It’s really straightforward to book nowadays using a travel agent or even doing it online.
  • You’re not sharing the villa with other holidaymakers, meaning more privacy.
  • You have the choice of cooking in the villa or going out for meals.
  • Villas are generally more relaxing than hotels.
  • Why A Villa Holiday Is For Everyone

Why don’t people like villas?

  • It can work out to be very expensive
  • No luxury of staff on site to help you
  • Cleaning of beds and rooms is up to you to do.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Of course, it doesn’t just have to be a villa you hire out; you can also hire out holiday apartments, cottages and bed, and breakfasts. It all depends on what you prefer. If you’re more of an outdoorsy type, you can either rent out a caravan (or take your own) or pitch a tent and take yourself away from the modern world for a while.
